By Teresa Perozzi at her New Jersey training camp
Just got in from our training today. We've been doing 10 rounds every day now and I am feeling strong with that.
I will feel better for the fight when I can give my body time to recover and not have to keep up these workouts on top of the sparring every day.
I had to send my son back to Bermuda today so that was sad for me. I won't see him again until I get back to Bermuda on the 17th.
I hope my next fight is over the summer holiday so I don't have to be apart from him like this.
My manager and I have talked quite extensively about what is needed in Bermuda so that I can continue my training on the island and not have to come here.
As much as I know this experience is necessary in order to get the kind of training I need I definitely miss my routines and my running partner and conditioning coach Yves. We really bonded and he knows what it takes to get the most out of me.
Training back home my days are so filled. I have everything to the minute and it doesn't give you much time to reflect.
I now have that time and I am working on believing in myself and having the confidence that, as much as I am the underdog for this fight, I have what it takes to win.
I am trying not to doubt my abilities and have confidence that I've put in the hard work and the end result will be a victory for me.
So many opportunities will open up for me with this win and the struggle and sacrifice will be worth it.
I also think it's been good for my son (who's dream is to be a professional rugby player!) to see what it really takes to be an athlete and the dedication and commitment required.
This boxing thing does not come naturally for me, I've had to really work at it!
One thing I must say I have liked better this time around is that am fighting the next weight class up so I am actually at the required 168lbs now and I have not had to suffer as I normally do to make the weight.
I can even indulge in some chocolate now and then which certainly does wonders for my frame of mind. Tomorrow a heavyweight girl who is a four-time Golden Glove champion and is now professional is coming in from New York to spar with me.
I'm a little nervous about that but I know that it will be good work for me. I rarely get a chance to spar with women, especially ones with experience, so this will be a good learning opportunity for me and hopefully I will see some improvements with all the subtle changes I've been trying to incorporate.
